COMMUNITY FOLK ART CENTER PRESENTS
"Dodji Koudakpo: An African Experience"
Exhibition Features Works by Syracuse
University Senior
Syracuse, NY - The Community Folk Art Center, 805 East Genesee Street
in Syracuse, will present the exhibition "Dodji Koudakpo: An African Experience."
The exhibition will be on view from March 24th through
May 12th, 2007. There will be an artist reception on Saturday, March 24th,
2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Regular Gallery hours are Tuesday through
Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m.
Koudakpo is a senior at Syracuse University, majoring
in Management and Information Technology. He is originally from Togo,
West Africa. He came to the United States in 2000, and has been
a Syracuse resident since 2002. He has been active as an artist for the
past several years, winning several awards for his work. While attending
Syracuse University, he has worked on several independent art projects.
Koudakpo's recent paintings and drawings will be on view during the exhibition.
The works explore a variety of subjects, including the artist's personal
experiences.
Also on view at the Community Folk Art Center is the exhibition, "Environmental
Injustice and the Artist Response to Hurricane Katrina," which will
be on view through April 21st.
