The Community Folk Art Center Summer Camp is part of the center's Illuminate the Arts Project - an ongoing program that seeks to enrich the lives of children of all ages by offering, state of the art, workshops in the visual, performing and literary arts from a diverse perspective.

The project's overall objective is to introduce the disciplines of theater, poetry, dance and the visual arts to young people, giving them the basic concepts and fundamentals of elocution, movement, written expression and the studio arts. The program seeks to promote artistic exploration, inspire individual creativity and foster understanding and skills regarding art and culture.

Participants engage with visiting professional artists and professors as well as, students of art at Syracuse University. Activities are designed to illuminate each child's inner artist. The environment created encourages self-expression, self-esteem and elevated academic achievement.

Filmmaking Intensive class is open to students
age 11 - 14 and is limited to 5 students per week.  Students may enroll in Filmmaking for 1 week only.

SUMMER CAMP 2007 will highlight experiences in painting, ceramics, drawing, dance and photography. Instructors will be named at a later date in the near future.

Kuumba Visual Arts Intensive with Ford Foundation Artists in Residence Charly Palmer and Brantely Carroll

April 9th thru April 13th 2007

The Community Folk Art Center would like to announce that registrations are being accepted for our Adult Painting Class with Ford Foundation Artist in Residence Charly Palmer. The adult painting class is designed for people with some experience and a serious interest in the visual arts. Located in Syracuse's Connective Corridor, CFAC is offering a unique opportunity for you to explore and develop your creative skills and talents under the direction of a master artist.

The price, which includes registration & supplies for the class is $100.00. Reserve your space with a $25.00 deposit (non-refundable).

"Illuminate The Arts*" Winter Break Camp


February 19th thru February 23rd 2007
9:00 to 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday
Drop off begins at 8:15 am.
Extended day available (between 5-5:30 pm) for an additional $5.00 per day

Participants engage with visiting professional artists and professors as well as students of art at Syracuse University.  Activities are designed to illuminate each child’s inner artist. The environment created encourages self-expression, self esteem and elevated academic achievement. Winter Break Camp 2007 will highlight experiences in painting, ceramics, drawing, dance and sculpture. Instructors will include: Alanda Bolden (Sculpture), Jacquelyn Maye (Paint on Everything), Monica Leap (Ceramics), Karen Patton, (Special Projects), and Dance will also be offered. Students can look forward to one exciting field trip and a pizza & wing party on Friday 2/23.
